Fitting In

In this picture Mary is playing one of her favorite games. It's completely silent and involves lots of eye contact. I like to call it, "Am I allowed to do this?"

Mary's language skills have really taken off. She can repeat back simple sentences ("Momma, more apple juice please") and volunteer information ("Teeth Hurt!") She's also gaining more appreciation for story time. Mary's favorite toys right now are a doctor bag full of plastic instruments and whichever hand tool she can snag from the kitchen counter.

Last week was a very hard week for this girl. She had a high fever for seven days. We took her to the doctor and the hospital but, since it was just a virus, there wasn't a lot they could do. The last couple of days have been much better but Mary's appetite and her attitude have yet to adjust to pre-fever levels. There has been a lot of screaming and food throwing. A lot of fits. Oh, the terrible twos. Chris and I just look at each other like, "What can a person do?" and slide around the kitchen.

Other things: Mary's favorite show is Shawn the Sheep. We have a fun little dance for the theme song.

She absolutely loves Tracey's house (the daycare lady). We love that she loves it there, even though I suspect Mary gets spoiled rotten (television? pacifiers? Cheezits? J' accuse!). Oh well, Tracey raised four children and who knows how many daycare babies and they all turned out well. Maybe the newest study will say that Cheezits are good for you.

In other baby news, our little fetus got fingerprints this week! Go, Baby, Go!

  1. It looks like she is hiding. I am so glad that you put the vidio on. (can you email a copy to GrandPa) Glad that everyone is getting better now. Been told that it is common, but she is the first baby i saw that really likes to be bundeled tight.
Eat, Play, ... can't think of anything else that is really important for her to accomplish.
