Growing Like Corn

Things have been so busy since school started that Mary has taken more photographs than we have. Above is one of many choice portraits of her biscuity feet. It seems like the only time to get a snapshot in is when she's really enjoying a snack; then Mary doesn't care who gets to play with the camera first.

That scrap on her nose came from two face-plants in the same weekend. The first time she was very upset to find her adventure had quickly gone south. Chris cuddled Mary up in the driveway while she smeared dirt, snot and blood on his neck. The second time she didn't even pause.

Mary Frances' face has healed up nicely. Chris taught her all about kissing boo-boos to make the pain go away and it is SO MUCH FUN. The power! Unfortunately Mary is in a smacking and biting stage. We're busy teaching her that smacking your Mom just so you have a boo-boo to kiss is a stupid game.

The upside: After bath time, when Mary is cuddly and tired, she likes to plant kisses all along the side of my arm. This rapidly devolves into long thoughtful shoulder raspberries. Until we both burst out laughing.

In addition, Mary has learned the art of the fart joke. She yells, "Momma!", looks me in the eye, and then tilts her little butt so she can blast the kitchen chair. So proud of herself. Now I know what Chris and Mary get up to while I'm studying.

Aunt Boo

You want an apple? You want up too? Oh... you want Aunt Boo. Always, always talking about Aunt Boo.
