Ladies Who Lunch

Clockwise from top left: Bunny, Puppy, Teddy Bear (in Mary's hands), Cara, and Koala. I named Cara almost thirty years ago; the rest were all named by Mary. (Those who know Chris well can see that Mary clearly inherited her taste in names!)

The Other Cutest Baby in the World

Uh oh, this baby is absolutely definitely no-doubt-about-it a girl. Even I could see a baby girl on the screen. I'm going to have to back-track on a lot of bragging about feminine intuition and "a mother knows". Chris had a good long laugh. He's so delighted to have another little girl to make him invisible tea and introduce to tiny green bugs. (As opposed to boys, who - Chris says - just spend their days sticking their hands down their pants and getting into rock fights. I'll take his word on that. Here's to girls!)

Living Color

Spring is here and everything seems a lot more colorful.
Mary has a new favorite show and she tries all day to wheedle me into Netflixing it. It's called "Ni Hao, Kai-Lan" - bug-eyed baby animals and a tiny cartoon girl teach you simple Chinese words and emotional maturity. I like it slightly better than Shaun the Sheep.

Tomorrow Chris and I go to Baby McFarland's ultrasound. We'll know then if it's a girl or a boy. I'm buying blue paint for the third bedroom regardless; powder blue can be fixed up very feminine.
Anyway, if this little baby is a girl, she'll be sharing a room with her sister and I'll have a powder blue library/office. On the flip side, if the baby is a boy he'll have the luxury of having a name. We've got nothing for girl names... Mary Frances was our best one.

Green with Envy!

Look what Mary got in the mail today - only the cutest outfit in the world! Nobody is pinching this little girl on St. Patrick's Day.

And... here's some more of Mary trying to dress herself. I offered to help but she was not interested.

Two things that Mary has learned to say very well: "Thanks, Grandpa!" and "Hat is Sooooo CUTE!" Because she is her Momma's girl.

Mary in the Rain

Chris took this picture with his phone and it is his new favorite thing in all the world.
