Happy Birthday

Luckily the weather was nice for Mary's birthday barbecue; there is no way we could have fit 14 people in the apartment. Even though Mary is recovering from a cold and a fever, she had a good time. The lucky girl got lots of presents and hugs. The birthday cake was carrot cake with cream cheese icing, home made by her loving Aunt Sage. A big success.

Bestie the Bee

Ignore the state of the house and focus on the adorable baby and her Bee friend. Focus!

Thanks so much to Great Uncle Alex and Great Aunt Chris for knowing a very special bee when they see it.

This Week in Pictures

Poor Mary has had the sniffles since that 26th and a night cough for about a week now. Chris has the same. Last night they kept waking each other up with their coughing; ran me up the wall. A little humidifier action and they should be back up to snuff soon.

The runny nose doesn't slow Mary down much. She's getting a top tooth. Finally she will be able to instill fear into the heart of an artichoke.

Today the daycare ladies witnessed Mary's mad ninja skills. Mary and her especial friend, Madeline, were both taken with the same yellow lid this morning. After breakfast Mary watched Madeline playing with it but never made a grab for the lid. Then at nap time Mary scooted over to her little friend, slowly rolled the kid over to her side, slid the lid out of her hand and carefully rolled her back. Poor Madeline never knew what happened.

The daycare ladies were equally non-plussed.

I keep telling people, this girl is a sneak thief. She has her father's patience, the potential for her father's coordination and my utter lack of scruples. Add looks and brains and we are all in trouble.

(Last month she purposefully dropped her binky. I was kind of confused but picked it up. While I was bent over she grabbed my cell phone out of my back pocket. Sneak. Thief.)

The New Normal

Since I have class till late, Chris has been feeding Mary dinner - and it's anarchy. And she loves it.

Bath

When I come home from school I say, "Give me that baby! That baby is going straight to the tub."

Blackberry Jam

Three cheers for Uncle Luckie's homemade blackberry jam.

Walking Videos

Way to go, Chris! It's really sweet to see Chris and Mary together without a camera person to distract her. (I think Chris ended up propping the camera on a chair.) This is some of my favorite footage so far.

Walking!

Baby walked to Chris this morning! This was unlike the stumblely little half steps she took towards the laptop a few weeks ago - this was full on pinwheel legs.

Happy Easter!

Yawn

Here we are reading my friend Jennie's comic covering the last couple weeks of Mary's gestation. Little Girl seems unimpressed with her newly discovered celebrity. Perhaps she just doesn't identify that big round shape as herself (it seemed odd to me at the time too).

Last night Chris went baby trapping. He shook a tiny bell at a fussy baby while sitting behind a fuzzy blanket and pacifier. The baby walked toward the blanket to get a look at the bell and then - fffwwwwsh - collapsed in a puddle of cuddle. Clever clever Dad. I laughed so hard I almost ruined it.
